Harley Street Glide vs. Road Glide

Harley-Davidson's Street Glide and Road Glide are two popular touring motorcycles that riders love for their power and control. The two bikes share a lot in common.

Each comes with a Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine that packs a whopping 111 pound-feet of torque. Their anti-lock brakes offer plenty of stopping power, even on slick surfaces. Their seat height is the same and they include a passenger seat. Both motorcycles come with the Boom!™ Box 4.3 twin-speaker sound system.

There are reasons to choose either the Street Glide or Road Glide, many of which come down to personal preference. Here's a quick summary of the differences between these popular models to help you decide.

Differences Between the Street Glide and Road Glide Touring Bikes

When comparing the Street Glide and Road Glide lines, you'll notice a few cosmetic differences.

The Street Glide has a single headlight, while the Road Glide has dual headlights. The Road Glide's headlights are LEDs, helping you see and be seen in any condition. Street Glides made after 2020 feature an LED bulb in their single headlight.

Sitting down on the bike, you'll notice some differences in the console and mirrors. The Street Glide has four complete gauges in addition to its radio, while the Road Glide has two. The Road Glide also has more front-end storage than the Street Glide. There's a spacious storage compartment on either side. Looking to the left and right, the Road Glide's mirrors are built into the handlebars while the Street Glide's mirrors attach to the fairing.

The fairing is the greatest difference between the Road Glide and Street Glide. The Street Glide has a batwing fork-mounted fairing. Turning the handlebars moves the entire assembly, which takes slightly more work than turning the Road Glide. The Road Glide's shark nose fairing mounts to the frame. The result is an aerodynamic design that is marginally easier to maneuver.
