Join ride leaders, Steve and Lisa Winters, for a scenic road trip through Lancaster and Bucks Counties to see the covered bridges. Just the sight of covered bridges brings to mind thoughts of old charm and romance. Did you know there are over 25 covered bridges in Lancaster County and 12 covered bridges in Bucks County? Unfortunately, we won’t have time to see them all.
Plan to leave SVH-D at 9 a.m. and return at approximately 4:00 p.m. Please be prepared and arrive with a full tank of gas. This scenic ride has us leaving Harrisburg traveling on country roads to Manheim in northern Lancaster County. From there, we will travel along river roads to Safe Harbor in Conestoga Township in Lancaster County. We will ride through Lancaster, stopping at the Sheetz in Marietta for fuel and a break. On the way home, if time permits, we will also stop for ice cream because ice cream is always a good idea!
If you've visited this quaint tavern before, you know their 250+ year old Catalpa tree is a highlight of the establishment along with the historically-significant architecture. Depending on the evening's weather, we may dine inside in one of their four dining rooms or soak in the laid back atmosphere of their year-round deck. Ride leaders, Joe and Kim Grubb, invite you to join them!
